I'm hoping someone can explain this to me please. I just bought Morrowind, actual disc not on steam, and am so excited to hopefully install it. I read about OpenMW and got excited, then I saw Morrowind was on sale for $10 and got even more excited! If I have the retail game do I need to download Wine? I looked already for help but i didn't seem to find exactly what I need. I guess I just download OpenMW and then reroute the installation from the retail CD?

Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks! So I have been out of town and was just able to sit down to try this. I downloaded the '.dmg' of OpenMW and that went smoothly.

I bought the GOTY edition from Amazon and received an actual disc. When I started the InstallWizard from OpenMW it asked if I wanted to install by disc, which I assume is the correct way for me? It then asked me to Desktop Oscilloscope Software there. 'Select Morrowind Installation Media', but all the options on the disc are greyed out and will not let me select the.exe file? What am I doing wrong? Down below, someone linked the installation instructions, which simply said 'Install OpenMW, insert disc, Play!'

Cross-platform obviously isn't my specialty:( Someone also said I would need to extract the.esm file from the Morrowind Disc, How do I achieve that? For whatever reason, that does not work for me. I try to just click the disc but it does not accept it as a choice. I might be mistaken with buying the CD version of the game.

I ordered it off amazon, it is the GOTY version, it has a physical DVD. I just noticed though, on the back of the box it says that a 'Free Steam Account' is required, but the directions on the inside of the box say that the game will automatically install when placed in a Windows machine and only if necessary would I need to download the game from Steam with an activation code I was given, that should mean that the data files are on the disc right? So maybe I am not able to 'see' the.esm file? If it helps you, I downloaded Wine for access PC Steam instead of Mac Steam.

I downloaded the game and then hit play. It seamed to be working fine but when I ran it in window-mode it simply crashed, then in Full screen mode it got to the menu but froze on me when I tried to change some options. Thanks a lot for your help, I am really close to just buying a cheap laptop that will be my 'Morrowind Laptop' hahah • • • • •. So I have been out of town and was just able to sit down to try this.
